Compagnie MONTALVO-HERVIEU
Théâtre national de Chaillot – France
Orphée (Orpheus)
A work by José Montalvo and Dominique Hervieu (2010)
Choreographic work for 9 dancers and 7 singers-musicians
The performance will immerse the viewer into a selection of the Orpheus myth interpretations drawn from the
bountiful wealth accrued over the centuries. Together, these interpretations weave an extravagant labyrinth
reflecting a section of the history of European culture, as is the case with every major classical myth.
As in Jose Montalvo and Dominique Hervieu’s previous performances, there will be among others a classical
ballerina (en pointe), African dancers-singers, contemporary and hip-hop dancers as well as two unclassifiable
artists.
